I think some C coding skills (no luck here) are required for the task
http://pcmanfm.git.sourceforge.net/git/ ... .c;hb=HEAD
for xzm extracting/packing maybe this can help.

Re: LXDE - update ~/.cache/menu/16e*** file
I think that's it, great job tiger!tiger wrote:UPD:
Even modifying *.desktop file in /usr/share/applications recovers menu-cache daemon's sight . So, f.e. activating vlc.xzm and modifying vlc.desktop (f.e. touch -m vlc.desktop), brings vlc to lxde menu.

Re: Porteus-v1.0-beta-x86_64 is ready :)
X should load the .Xresources file in the xinitrc, executed at X start, it doesn't get loaded dinamically: I tried with the default .xinitrc generated by xwmconfig for lxde. yes, the ntp package is big, I thought (if possible) about the inclusion of the ntpdate binary only (works fine alone): looks ...

Re: Porteus-v1.0-beta-x86_64 is ready :)
I have tried this: I got alien's vlc , I converted with txz2xzm, I activated it and vlc didn't appear in the menus, so I deactivated. I tried installing the original package and in this case I have the menu entry. I unpacked the vlc xzm module and I suspected the lack of the doinst.sh (where needed ...

Re: Porteus-v1.0-beta-x86_64 is ready :)
I don't know if it's me only, but I had to manually run update-desktop-database after loading modules to have the applications show in menus.

Re: Porteus-v1.0-beta-x86_64 is ready :)
seems like activation of modules got some problems: the MODULE variable get its path altered from the original to /usr/share/application/$modulename during the execution of /usr/bin/activate. moving the variable assignment MODULE=$(readlink -f "$1") just at the beginning of the /usr/bin/activate scr...

Re: Porteus-v1.0-beta-x86_64 is ready :)
thanks fanthom, all is fine here :) - I would add an /etc/X11/xinit/.Xresources file with xterm*background: black xterm*foreground: gray90 to have the same default terminal colors of lxterminal and console. - I have copied the /usr/sbin/ntpdate binary from a slackware64-current to set the date using...

Re: Porteus-v1.0-alpha-x86_64 calls for testing
prepared a little addon (only links to the oxygen theme icons and some folders, no weight) to the Humanity theme to show kde apps icons correctly under LXDE
shouldn't give any problems if kde module is not active

Re: Porteus-v1.0-alpha-x86_64 calls for testing
first thing I noticed after boot is that there isn't anymore the link to /mnt/live/bin/vi for vi (maybe it happened from the first porteus release )
besides that I'm playing with it a little and looks beautiful: liked very much the new lxde theme
