Keep hoping but 5.01's changes still need support. They don't support CUPS.

This arrangement seems to work on this PorteuX system.
I just wish it could work on the current PorteuS system.
Try this module 07-printing-x86_64-2025-01-02.xzm for Porteus 5.01 x86_64 stable.

Unfortunately test pages sent to the printer show as Completed but don't show up on the actual printer.

Hello Dev Team,
for certain time I am trying to print anything on my HP LaserJet P1005 on Porteus 5.01 with last updates as on abandoned Windows Vista one was printing well. I am reading chats, searching tips, collecting extra mentioned modules like hplip-plugin-3.20.5-x86_64-1_SBo.xzm etc... But only with limited success as only "stand-by printer" Canon MF6140 let me install itself without any issues and print the test page in the same minute, using 07-printing-x86_64-2023-09-23.xzm module found on mirrors.
The HP Laser Jet P1005 was not the same case, system is seeing and proposing printer model correctly, but after the same procedure of installation there is no action taken by printer. The tasks are visible in the printer queue, but printer itself is even not trying to get a list of paper.
Today the process of searching got another hit as the new module 07-printing-x86_64-2025-01-02.xzm checked for any better chance is reacting in different way asking for connection to printing service (CUPS server), which was not a case for previous module.
I feel that without any hints I will be lost (providing last changes in 07-printing module) without any chance to print on HP anytime soon.

hi Ed_P you are shure that cups daemon is started: sudo /usr/sbin/cupsd,i don't have seen any script to start it at boot time,but you know i can go wrong on this
