Macbook Air
I'm biding a Macbook Air and I check to see if Linux would work and I found out it will. I have a 160gb SATA drive with the USB cable plug. Here is my question can I use the Hard Drive for Porteus partition the drive with 4gb dos for boot and rest ext4 for the system files? Can anyone post idea on what I want to do?
I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

I haven't used a Mac in decades but doesn't Macbook have a unique drive format? If you change it you may never be able to boot the Mac again. I would stick with booting the USB drive until you find out more.

As I know from my PartedMagic forays Linux for a Mac is a hit-or-miss proposition.

In the pass I got Macbook2008 without HDD from my friend . I put a new HDD. I dont know anything about MacOS. Just boot Fatdog from usb drive(I think it was version 8) . After running Fatdog, you are good to go to format the HDD, install the OS, multiboot will work also.
I installed all frugally maybe 10 OSs include porteus. The speed is amazing. Some features(depend on installed OS) may not work out of the box, but you can install it later on.
My suggestion dont install windows, how old is your mac?

The one I was biding on was a 2015 but I'm looking now is a 2020. Why I want to change is I haven't like Widows 8 to 11 like I said my Dell quit working so I need a change.
I do have a iPhone now and phone and the Macbook can work together.
