Xfce 4.16 (for Porteus 5 RC2)

Hmm...I must have done it wrong. Using your 003-xfce-4.16-20210111.xzm + pango-1.48.0-x86_64-1.xzm with the Porteus-XFCE-v5.0rc2-x86_64.iso (md5sum 17e16e05f6d8d0f30d7092191c5da616) No shut down or reboot, only log out. Doing so and trying to log in as root = not possible. Thunar > open as root > no...

The stick is not displayed as a device with the blkid command.
After I connected this defective USB stick, also sdb is no longer displayed.

The stick is now unusable? Can this still be repaired?
Is the stick displayed as a device with the blkid command?

Code: Select all

root@porteus:/home/guest# blkid
If yes, it might be enough to zero (wipe) the stick.

File system exfat is not supported ?

Guys, mounting exfat is no problem if exfat-utils and fuse-exfat are activated. Proof: ( @ Kulle v4.0 64bit Xfce ) root@porteus:/home/guest# blkid /dev/sdc1: UUID="B1B6-C7AE" TYPE="exfat" PTTYPE="dos" PARTUUID="000c8179-01" root@porteus:/home/guest# mkdir /mnt/test root@porteus:/home/guest# mount.ex...

Why is Porteus-installer-for-Linux.com needed for booting Porteus via USB?

Hi Ed
I do not have any hardware "contaminated" with UEFI; so please don't ask me questions. :)

But here is a link to some drivers.

Security chips from IT giants to lock you out of your own hardware

The golden age is long gone.
We're on the way of losing control of the systems we buy.

Copy a hdd to a new ssd drive

Hmm..it seems to me that you are confusing the dds bs= option with disk sectors. The block size (bs) parameter specifies the amount of memory used to read a block from one hard disk before attempting to write that block to the other. dd copies everything, including free space. The disadvantages beco...

ffplay-gtk-1.9 for all porteus versions

Try this line [found with the help of a search engine] ;)

Code: Select all

ffplay -vf "drawtext=text='%{pts\:hms}':box=1:x=(w-tw)/2:y=h-(2*lh)" video.mp4
But to be honest, I'm not motivated to spend more time on it. -- :book:

ffplay-gtk-1.9 for all porteus versions

There is a possibility to show the play time ffplay -vf "drawtext=text='%{pts\:hms}'..+ box window parameters. But the filter "drawtext" is not included in the ffmpeg build. (port 3.2.2) maybe in your version. check with ffmpeg -filters | grep -i drawtext btw from terminal use ffplay -autoexit -hide...

I still don't know what you mean.

which would have to be compiled from source?
