No need to praise, I know it's perfect

Have you ever been wondering about what bored people do when they got nothing better to do than the things they do in times like those? After having some experience with Porteus, I, as enlightened white ninja, have decided to bring to public my own version of this Linux distribution. It's going to b...

Re: How to put the XFCE in pt-br?

Why the problem only happen to me? I don't know. Maybe Language Selection Tool doesn't check returning values of functions when it downloads, unpacks, copies and then repacks files, so it doesn't know if somewhere on the way occured an error? Like not enough space, corrupted downloaded file, no per...

Re: How to put the XFCE in pt-br?

Excuse me for interrupting your talk. Somehow file structure of your locale pack is missing all .mo files, which are actually translations. Here's what I got after using Language Selection Tool for pt_BR'ing XFCE 64 and mounting locales-pt_BR.utf8-x86_64-1prt.xzm (only core and xfce locales was sele...

Re: [SOLVED] FAA In XFCE 3.1, "networking disabled" for gues

Have you actually tried doing this with Porteus ver. 3.1 (current)? Yes, I have tried it on virtual machine booting from iso, then selecting text mode in menu (without editing any .cfg file, just as it is). Login guest, password guest, startx -> xfce without network manager. Reboot, text mode, logi...

Re: [SOLVED] FAA In XFCE 3.1, "networking disabled" for gues

Humble 2 cents from someone who does only googling and reading posts from 2012 without understanding what it's all about, i.e. me. While you're waiting for a fix, you may load graphical interface from init 3 level with logged guest with startxfce4 --with-ck-launch command instead of startx . This w...

Re: FAA In XFCE 3.1, "networking disabled" for guest

To do it manually, for your platform you'd had to download from here http://dl.porteus.org/i486/testing/updates/ all modules which are related to your system (core, xorg and xfce) and then insert them into your porteus iso to directory where all other .xzm modules reside (/porteus/base). The tools a...

Re: libquadmath.so.0 missing in XFCE v. 3.1

I guess he's referring to function Update Porteus from Porteus Settings Centre. Because if you have downloaded Porteus via build wizard or from dl.porteus.org, then most of the files there were created in December 2014, while fixes are distributed via abovementioned function. Maybe. Or maybe not. Yo...

Re: [Solved] No libqt4-devel in repository?

Little update to story.
Since Debian package was available too (https://www.pinguin.lu/pkgserver), deb2xzm tool did the trick very simply, so now I have fred as .xzm module and it works (opens registry hives, did not tried writing yet).

You are the one who will tell us. Yo listen up here's a story about a little guy that lives in a blue world http://i.imgur.com/ZEZblIE.png Ok, so I have downloaded module 05-devel.xzm and put it where it should be. Whoever looks after website, please consider adding address dl.porteus.org to downlo...

[Solved] No libqt4-devel in repository?

Need qmake from libqt4-devel package. Searched repository, no such name. Building script from Forensic Registry EDitor (fred) complains which: no qmake in (/usr/lib64/lxqt-xdg-tools:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/games:/opt/porteus-scripts:/usr/lib64/qt/bin:/usr/li...

Re: deb2xzm errors question

If you will be brave enough to try this method, then here it is. To look for these files. ls -lah /usr/lib | grep 'libv4lconvert\|libv4l2\|libv4l1' If there are any symbolic links, then you'll receive an output strings containing libv4lconvert.so -> libv4lconvert.so.0 .x.x .x.x in my example stands ...

Re: deb2xzm errors question

Hi! I know really little about linux, but when I encounter problem I first google to see if this problem already was solved by someone before. Just putting "/sbin/ldconfig: /usr/lib/libv4lconvert.so.0 is not a symbolic link" in search field brings up number of results when people had same issue. It ...

I guess it's what Avahi is for.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Avahi#Samba
Avahi is included to LXQt release, check if you have it in XFCE. I personally never used it and don't need it.
