Re: Screen Resolution Problem

This was a tough one. It was another episode of "I have Linux on my Intel graphics" series. Three more links to one that posted fanthom (this http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php?f=103&t=2400): http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=735 http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=1110 ht...

Re: Screen Resolution Problem

That's simply hillarious. Asking which kernel has Porteus when it was explicitly mentioned in my post before that it is porteus-3.17.4. Recommending to check fanthom's solution, which requires modesetting when OP stated that without "nomodeset" (i.e. with modesetting) his machine boots into black sc...

Re: Persistence on FAT32 pendrive

Yeah, that's real pity. We feel your pain. ...Ah, who am I kidding. No, we don't. Please provide some more information. 1. Is this one and only partition on your usb stick? 2. What is the "referenced tool"? 3. How do you expect savefile to work? 4. In which way you installed Porteus? 5. Where do you...

Re: Screen Resolution Problem

I would try: xrandr --newmode "1024x600_60.00" 48.96 1024 1064 1168 1312 600 601 604 622 -HSync +Vsync --output default --gamma 1:1:1 --mode 1024x600 I wouldn't because it breaks my logic of how things work. This command attempts to use and create new mode at the same time. I'd split it to 3 comman...

Re: Screen Resolution Problem

If kernel used in Porteus supports "nomodeset" option, then probably it supports KMS in general. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Kernel_mode_setting Then for Intel 945GSE you could use i915.modeset=1 boot option as described here http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.freedesktop.xorg.drivers.int...

Re: Screen Resolution Problem

If kernel can't detect anything greater than 800x600 then probably my posting below won't help too, but I'll leave it there for historical purpose. Long long time ago in a forum far far away users of another small distros were discussing setting up resolution 1024x600. They tried to use vga=577. Wne...

I opened 003-settings.xzm of Kiosk with 7zip and I see /usr/share/wallpapers folder, but I have no idea if placing anything there will have any effect.

Re: Screen Resolution Problem

When I was setting bigger resolutions for display of virtual machine using vga=### boot option it was going black or just hang too after changing window size, but I thought it was VM's bug. Seems like it wasn't. You can try your luck adding vga=### to strings which start with APPEND in porteus.cfg f...

Re: Users & Groups Icon Appears But Not Menu

Hi. I just took a look at what you're trying to bring to Porteus. http://pkgs.org/debian-sid/debian-main-i386/gnome-system-tools_3.0.0-4_i386.deb.html Section "Requires" lists many packages on which gst depends. So first question, do you have them all installed? After reading this http://www.linuxqu...
