This link may be a better fix with the broadcom system: Version 4.0 questions (Post by Blaze #64647)

A similar approach may work with the Realtek drivers in Porteus.

Happy to hear you're making progress though surprised it's taking you so much effort. Post the results of this command as root: lspci | grep controller "updates" are xzm modules and are copied to the /porteus/modules/ folder and then activated. No installs needed.
