Porteus very slow after clean install on

you can use changes=EXIT: <pathORuuid> with ext format too.. for the best of both worlds(POSIX and no journalling) try ext2 : don't need a .dat container and less wear on the flash drive.. changes=EXIT: might make shutdown a bit slower.. another thing for general speedup is copy2ram cheatcode if you...

Save settings and apps after shut down or reboot

Is it what you need ? perfect :) .. so your booting device where porteus is frugally installed is sdd1 install 5.1.5-porteus not sure about this? the kernel version? anyway, your sdd1 install should look similar to this: $ tree -L 2 sdb1 sdb1 ├── EFI │   └── boot ├── USB_INSTALLATION.txt ├── boot │...

Save settings and apps after shut down or reboot

none of this is making any sense :D and saved in the /modules folder which is added to the APPEND line with the extramod= cheatcode. nope.. any modules in the <usb>/porteus/modules folder are loaded automatically, no extramod= cheatcode is needed. When you are booted to the USB drive the drive is sd...

How fonts work on Porteus and why it matters

about subpixel layout: this depends on your screen. most likely it is RGB, but there are screens with other layouts.. if in doubt here's a handy test: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/subpixel.php the other thing is the DPI (dots per inch) setting: while 96x96 is the most common, there are others(eg. th...

[Solved] Start-up Hang due to unknown background processing

One more thing. May I know if I would be able to identify when a particular web address has not worked due to this? Any specific error message will be shown in that case in the browser? And then I would just be required to turn the setting on for that particular session for it to work again, yes? s...

OpenBox and keyboard/font/codepage bug

the problem seems to be with gxkb... here's what i did: quit gxkb (rightclick on the flag and quit) and maybe rename(.bak) or delete or move ~/.conifg/gxkb/gxkb.conf edit /etc/xdg/openbox/autostart > comment or remove entry: gxkb & logout/login then setkbmap pl works as expected ... πœę©ß←↓ but.. th...

OpenBox and keyboard/font/codepage bug

hi, welcome to porteus, with the openbox keyboard layout, gxkb controls this, so try editing /home/guest/.config/gxkb/gxkb.cfg line: layouts=us,ru,es change to layouts=pl (or whatever combination you want, max of 3) hopefully this works.. with localisation, is this failing only with openbox? does it...

Removing keyboard shortcut for text mode

Is there a command that lists all the shift+crtl+fn keys and their functions? no idea, shift+crtl+F1 to F12 access each TTY(virtual console) although porteus has only 7, so 8-12 are empty(no login prompt) and when X(xorg display server) is running, TTY7 is taken over by the GUI.. also, they should ...

And the list it shown didn't have any CTRL+ALT+F12 shortcut.
yeah, it's an internal setting.. ie. not an explicit shortcut..
to turn them off do:

Code: Select all

setxkbmap -option srvrkeys:none
to turn back on:

Code: Select all

setxkbmap -option ''
