[Solved] Issue with Shutdown shortcut in Cinnamon

Hello, I am using Porteus 4 with Cinnamon DE. I was having trouble with the DE loading time, it lagged a lot when it started. So, I deleted the save file and re-prepared it from a fresh boot. Since then, I am having trouble with the default shutdown shortcut: CTRL+ALT+END This keyboard shortcut had ...

Start-up Hang due to unknown background processing

the other thing to try is "Always Fresh" ie. without changes or added modules and see if the lag occurs there.. I deleted the save file and re-made it from a fresh boot. And now the lag is gone, at least in Cinnamon. I haven't checked in KDE though. Probably the same thing will work on that too. Ju...

[SOLVED]How to disable autologin and guest account?

Thanks Rava. Your response was really helpful. As there were a lot (a lot lot) files in the DE that had guest user name reference, I've left the idea to change the user name. For the time being, I'll run it with guest user name. Although, it's really irritating to see your username as guest, but as ...

meet You are using USB, but have you HDD on your PC?
Yes, a harddisk is present on the laptop that I am using for booting the usb at the moment.
Could that be the reason? That the OS is loading the HD and taking too much time?

Issue in package to module conversion

Hello. I am using Porteus 4.0 with Cinnamon DE. I tried to install Ghostwriter.deb by converting it to .xzm module file. Steps followed: 1. Downloaded the ghostwriter.deb file from the debian package repository website. 2. Opened the terminal as root 3. Went to the directory where the file .deb was ...

Start-up Hang due to unknown background processing

Hi Guys. It turns out that the lag was not just due to the IPV6 support. Even after turning it off, it still lags in the initial load-up for a full one minute. During this one minute, nothing happens. No button work, no commands, no clicks work. It just stays like that. And then suddenly everything ...

Knowing your Changes and Save.dat file size and usage

Thank you. :) What do you do to boot Porteus? Plug it in and reboot Windows? Change the EFI boot sequence? Have you disabled the EFI Secure Boot option? Use a grub2 menu? That was my first post in this forum I guess. I couldn't boot porteus with the EFI. I had to install grub on it as per someone's...

I have not disregarded or overlooked any of the procedure. I have exactly worked as per the steps mentioned in that link and that's why the OS is working. Otherwise it wouldn't have booted. You have posted twice that you did not install Porteus, you merely copied files to the USB drive. That is one...

Change it to not be automatic and reboot. See if that helps the boot time. Sorry. That doesn't help. Same log.
