ext4 & ntfs on the same hdd + frugal installation on ext4 partition that needs to be formatted on boot\frugal install
I don't know what the issue is with your input devices not sending the signals. If some icons are going blank when after starting up in Fresh Mode. Either the icon pack is bad, but I imagine brokenman would had patched it by now, or there's hardware issues on your device. If you want to do the parti...

Re: Do you use LibreOffice?
I use LibreOffice now. Before I was using OpenOffice. When I was running Porteus off my pen drive on my old laptop, I was using Abiword since it's small.

Re: Are Premade Modules Different From USM+Conversion?
These are the differences I'm aware of. As already mentioned. The Porteus browser modules have their default search engine set to DuckDuckGo that includes a "t=porteus" in the URL query. This just helps provide an income donation to Porteus to help support it. Plus DuckDuckGo has more privacy than G...

Re: How do I get use of all USB space
Have you tried clearing your browser cache and the unneeded dependencies that USM makes in its folder?

Re: Porteus v3.2rc2 FAQ and wishlist
Is that an issue with XFCE 32bit? I was about to get an updated iso.

Re: Porteus -v3.2 final
Can't get touch pad to work. I've tried looking for a USM package but wants 50+mb of dependencies. I've checked the mouse settings, it's already enabled unless the current driver does not support my Toshiba.

Re: Handling user changes
I was thinking maybe some kinda GUI window that allows users to specify what to keep and not in their changes dat or file system. Maybe something like this example: [ ] Save everything? [/] Save guest account files? - [/] Keep account customizations? - [/] Keep app data? - - [ ] Everything - - [ ] F...

Re: Just made this script: UPS
Nice handy script. I don't know if someone already mentioned this, since I skimmed through the posts, that it works on my 32bit too.
@brokenman Just thinking why not have this appended to the iso with a link in the start menu? It looks user friendly for non-terminal users and is easy to use.

Re: On the useful topic called: sharing folders
I use Google Drive for hosting Google Docs, sadly the share functionality is terrible since it won't show my public document in their web searches so I'll probably be using a different service some point. It came with my Google account so it was just something to try out. Also, I have Dropbox for sh...

Re: How to autoconnect on a wifi network during boot?
Sadly, it lost that functionality in a previous update. I attempted researching a terminal command to manually connect to mine, so I could embed it in my startup script. But I was unsuccessful since the terminal commands wouldn't connect to my WiFi.

Re: Porteus donations - thank you for your support!
I've just tested Palemoon. The address bar and search engine bar both add "t=porteus" to the url query. The start.me page search adds "t=palemoonsp" instead though.

Type this in Terminal:
The current kernel is "4.8.7-porteus". If it says "4.8.6-porteus" then yours is older version of final.
Code: Select all

Re: Porteus donations - thank you for your support!
I've had no success modifying latest Opera default search engine. For speed-dial, Google is locked as the default engine. Address bar can only allow default DuckDuckGo without porteus url query, although I can add it but I would have to manually click the custom one before hitting enter. If I get ti...

Re: Dirty COW
Some wise words from James Bond himself, from one of my games where it involved a computer hacking mission: "Anything can be penetrated with the proper tool." I wouldn't worry about it though. It all comes down to how and who uses the tool. :good: I think... :unknown: Porteus is just an awesome os t...
