Bluetooth for Porteus 5.0rc3 xfce

I combined the directories comprising bluez-firmware, bluez. and blueman packages from Slackware 14.2 and the resulting module seems to work: bluetooth-5.0rc3-xfce.xzm

I successively txz2dir(ed) bluez-firmware, bluez, and blueman together and dir2txz(ed) the result -- the module seem to work. I'll post it under modules.

Porteus 5.0rc3 KDE boots to a blank screen

When I boot a fresh copy of Porteus 5.0rc3 KDE on an old iMac and on an old Dell laptop (Vostro 1000), I get a blank screen; if I hit the power button, a string of error messages appear and the machines shut down. Any suggestions?

Problems booting Porteus under rEFInd

The two Porteus are located in different partitions and rEFInd passes control to the appropriate initrd, but options referring to devices and file systems then fail; on its own, Porteus manages to load data from the wrong partition unless I block it by renaming folders or using the nohd option (in w...

Problems booting Porteus under rEFInd

That's how Porteus boots through BIOS -- UEFI boots through the menu-driven system in Porteus' /EFI folder (although it also hasn't booted on such systems). I'm successfully booting OSX El Capitan, Linux Lite, and Porteus 5.0rc3 XFCE on an SSD through rEFInd on a 2008 iMac. rEFInd automatically loca...

Problems booting Porteus under rEFInd

P.S. I just double checked that rEFInd is pointing to the right copy of the Porteus loader; I added "kde" to the end of the filenames of vmlinux and initrd.xz located in /sda3 and changed the references in the boot stanza -- Porteus' loader definitely starts, but issues the warning that it can't fin...

Problems booting Porteus under rEFInd

Yes, rEFInd supports the volume command -- it searches the partition name and file system label; it's also supposed to work with the partition UUID. There is no "search" command in rEFInd; there's a procedure it follows to automatically identify kernels to boot, which I only use to identify and boot...

Resize Porteus?

I should amend my question: other than correcting UUIDs and boot devices wherever it is appropriate, is there any problem with using rsync to copy a Porteus installation into a smaller partition? This seems to have worked -- I rsynced (-a) a Porteus installation from a 12-GB partition into an ~5GB p...
