NTFS3 Kernel Module
Does Porteus 5.0 by default use the new ntfs3 kernel driver or is it still FUSE ntfs-3g? Starting with the Linux 5.15 kernel, NTFS is finally being fully supported in Linux. New NTFS Driver in Kernel 5.15 https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/filesystems/ntfs3.html Slackware Forum: Kernel 5.15 : nt...

Japanese locale modules for Porteus
Thanks neko . Before I start testing your fcitx-mozc module let me tell you a problem with scim-anthy . Scim input doesn't seem to work in Qt Applications such as TexStudio, LyX, QtFM -- they display it if I paste some Japanese text, but Ctrl-Space or activating Scim/Anthy input by pressing the tray...

slapt-get: slapt-get is an APT like system for Slackware package management.
beny, Next time I can't find a package I might try to install slackpkg+ too. At the moment I'm a bit confused with various package managers. At least babam's slapt-get/getmod worked in this case and was easy. So I just wanted to report it in his thread and say thanks.

Is is possible to make encrypted xzm modules in Porteus that would require a password to activate or to extract?

neko , could you please update the modules below, and make them work for Porteus 5.0 64bit OpenBox? The old one 008-scim-anthy-x86_64.xzm doesn't work anymore. I don't need any locale, I'm happy with my English system. I just occasionally need to input Nihongo and have your recommended fonts. Also,...

I've noticed that dropping -Xcompression-level 22 from COMP_ZSTD="-comp zstd -b 256K -Xcompression-level 22" , thereby using the unknown default value results in a faster compression and only 0.5% increase in size. Actually even using -Xcompression-level 1 the compression is very fast and only 10% l...

do the current Porteus 5.0 ISOs have this version of mksquashfs Apparently so, as I'm using it and didn't have to install anything extra. Reportedly it was introduced upstream in squashfs-tools a year ago: https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/CAB3woddJss+ziGp-RjJ-yiax6pc_HLMdxk3Qk5nJdRgjpEYWBg@mail.gmail.c...

wread , Ed_P , you and the official /opt/porteus-scripts/update-module copy stuff into a temporary folder before turning it into a module. However, the current version of mksquashfs has the -no-strip parameter which preserves the full path. So we can run it on the actual mounted union directory we'...

This is how I make a module rych. -- can't we use symbolic links, we actually have to copy stuff to the mod folder? Another option I use, create a save.dat file, make all your changes to the system, exit Porteus (I use the cheatcode changes=EXIT for this), rename the save.dat file to be save.xzm an...

Porteus-v5.0x86_64_bugs reports
ncmprhnsbl , Yes, fsck works with the tweaked initrd, thank you and babam . My early stage errors were too early for debug cheatcode to monitor. I videorecorded the screen: it's a series of ACPI Errors "AE_NOT_FOUND", "could not resolve symbol [\_SB.PR00._CPC]", "psparse" ... due to ACPI BIOS bug, ...

Over the years I've come to the conclusion that the best container file in Porteus is xzm module :) wread , I've seen you mentioning your method in posts, could you share your scripts please or help me write my own? I do not have a changes file. I make a module of my changes every time I build or in...
