You need these 2 packages:
this one:
https://packages.slackware.com/?r=slack ... 6_64-5.txz

Sphere Browser

Hi Kulle
did it work?
But how do you come up with such tricks?
Where can I find information?
10% is what I know [I've been using Linux for quite some time].
10% I find in my notes [It's sometimes hard to remember where].
but most of the inspiration comes from <insert search engine here>. :)

Desktop MATE : Blurry blue screen with oscillations

Hi Rapha A visual overview... Yep, that's how it looks. --> xorg.conf = sets the resolution right but destroyed the panel. https://i.postimg.cc/k4VkNG89/mate.png Another approach: [ tested on FAT32 without saving changes] a) boot with nomodeset to have a clear desktop. [but wrong resolution] b) run ...

xfce-4 terminal gets close when I quit thunar file manager

I don't see this happen in rc3, but it does ,as described by OP, in older Porteus versions .

??gksu problem??

maybe try setting:

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ gksu-properties
to sudo

The screen start scrambled for 2-3 seconds, then it will be displayed correctly !
Excellent, and because you found the solution yourself, you will never forget how to do it. :)

Desktop MATE : Blurry blue screen with oscillations

Hmm...too bad, but I can't reproduce the problems you are having, unfortunately. --> does FAT32 make any difference -- nope. I installed Mate on a FAT32 formatted USB-stick > saved screenfix.sh in .../rootcopy/home/guest/ > and had this simple line in porteus.cfg APPEND from=UUID:C5F6-93AD guiexec=/...

do not add nomodeset or anything like that. but guiexec=/path/to/screenfix.sh of course. btw -> APPEND 3 is the text mode, the script should work for normal boot to desktop . EDIT I have a similar PC AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ and nvidia GeForce 7050 PV Let the system boot - it will ...

Desktop MATE : Blurry blue screen with oscillations

This helped me to get the correct resolution without any distortion: a) know how your moitor is called: xrandr --listmonitors mine is VGA-1 -- could also be LVDS1 etc. b) create a file screenfix.sh (+x) in the home dir #!/bin/bash xrandr --output VGA-1 --off xrandr --output VGA-1 --auto reboot and u...

Boot on Usb and slide to the hard drive ...

The problem is easily solved if the Porteus is installed on the USB key; you just have to edit the boot menu ( porteus.cfg in the "syslinux" folder of the key) by adding on each line "APPEND" : from=/dev/sdb1/ It works perfectly ! Well, it may or may not. Your usb-key could also become sdc,sdd.. it...

Conky anyone?

So where do I download the conky module? Hi Ed There are conky modules in the bundles section with custom made config files. But I wanted to start fresh so I build my own conky-1.10.8-i586-bundle.xzm via USM. content: -- (32 Bit but should also be available in 64 Bit x86_64 I think) conky-1.10.8-i5...
