Howto: Popular AppImages one click away

nx-software-center-latest-x86_64.AppImage does not work in Potues 4.0 Xfce. Various missing dependencies! That's up to the AppImage maintainers to provide all libraries needed, that's the idea about AppImages. When it doesn't work either use USM and create a module, or provide the libraries yoursel...

Porteus-v5.0rc3 x86_64 bug reports

Jack I try to take a screen shot in Mate and it wouldn't let me. Please do the following. Look into .desktop file that defines the screenshot, and execute what is written in a guest terminal. Example: In my Case - XFCE 4.12 - the menu entry is called Screenshot but the .desktop file itself is /usr/...

In my humble opinion, swap partitions should never be displayed as desktop icons or in the file browser.

Lookie here:

So, having a tool that allows me to check for newer versions as well as find out about some others I may not know, I'd say that's a pretty handy one.
That sounds good indeed, when they only list trustworthy sites.

Hysteria: COVID-19 for everybody.

Hi folks, just curious how you are doing in the global Covid scenario. Have restrictions lifted enough so that life is more relaxing, or do you still have many issues? In Germany on the one hand they still claim vaccination is up to the individual, while they plan to put more and more restrictions a...

update-browser bug or Firefox ESR bug?

I just used update-browser -d -f and choose creating the ESR version . In the setup I gave update-browser this default homepage URL: https://forum.porteus.org/search.php?search_id=egosearch since that this lets the browser to instruct forum.porteus.org to first open the login screen, and after that ...

[Solved] Taxonomies in Thunar (Labeling for the poor)

Finally done, saved 2 scripts (the longer managing stuff one, and the small untagging one) and several .txt files that have small explanation and then code lines that need to be put into the terminal one after the other. So, now could the real fun begin with analying your code and trying it all out....

[Solved] Taxonomies in Thunar (Labeling for the poor)

Finally first saved all your scripts and explanations (with some of the external info you provided in the actual posts, but the ones in your initial post) I will go through that one large file first to understand all there is about what you created. I also will save the scripts by themselves of cour...

[Solved] Taxonomies in Thunar (Labeling for the poor)

Whether the use of "send to --> tag color" is not quite semantically correct and led you to confusion, I don't know, but I think Thunar's "sendto" is an appropriate place, as there are existing actions involving creation of links to the desktop, the side panel, or even custom actions such as "move ...

[Solved] Taxonomies in Thunar (Labeling for the poor)

I can't believe you are telling me in what language I should set my system to. Are you kidding me? Have you checked the script? Have you seen any words in it in, well, Spanish? I think you misunderstood me. I was just asking what needs to be done to create the entry in Thunar that was visible in yo...

@ncmprhnsbl Your reply is not helpful. :( Do you know a forum for ruby? I think when I would post all the above info on stackoverflow or a better suited URL from the same tech and other questions site, my post would not get much helpful replies since in the eyes of some experts I did not put in enou...

Okay, are your integration into thusar scripts then multi-lingual, or must the integration into thunar be made manually?
Because the mentioned "Enviar a" (spanish) is, well, Spanish.

[Solved] Taxonomies in Thunar (Labeling for the poor)

I presume Enviar a is in your language the action of highlighting a set of selected files? I had to guess the used language, I presumed either Spanish or Portuguese. Fortunately my most fav translation site - https://dict.leo.org nowadays has many languages including Portuguese. I recall the times w...
