Conky anyone?

How does one make a xzm file out of a tbz one? .tbz is just a tar.bz2 archive... it should just extract (with an archiver if necessary) as per the instructions: ( https://github.com/aristocratos/btop#installation ) cd <extracted btop*.tbz> su mkdir /tmp/btop make install DESTDIR=/tmp/btop PREFIX=/u...

Burning Software for Porteus 5.0rc3

I used that one in Cinnamon, but the brasero windows doesn't start/ come up. Only this circle spins for a while. Or what do you mean, should i use a xfce desktop? heh, you mentioned thunar, so i assumed you were using xfce (thunar is the filemanager in xfce and nemo is the one in cinnamon) anyhoo, ...

It is a step backwards.
:( sounds like it..
to undo that:

Code: Select all

chmod 0711 /usr/bin/cdrecord
or if you're using a changes folder, find and delete that file(using an 'always fresh' session)

let's try a different tack: here's xfburn-0.6.2-x86_64+deps-xfce.xzm
this one is specific to xfce.

Burning Software for Porteus 5.0rc3

ok, it looks like there could be a bug with cdrtools .. https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/67265 ..although the version we have is earlier.. if you could try, as root: chmod 4711 /usr/bin/cdrecord and see if that makes a difference. a more complete, 'finer grained' approach using setcap, used by the ar...

Porteus 5.0

ok, so as it said: the firmware is missing for that driver.. this should fix that: rt3290-firmware.xzm place it your <install media>/porteus/modules folder and boot.. and hopefully it works.. you may ask..why was it missing? because in order to keep our ISO size down, we tend not to ship with every ...

hi, welcome to porteus forum :) first, lets find out what your wifi hardware is: as root in terminal: lspci -k -s $(lspci | grep -Ei 'wifi|wireless|network' | awk '{print$1}' | head -n1) if i'm not trying to be too clever with that, it should tell us what hardware is present and what, if any, kernel...

@Portland Z please try this one: brasero-3.12.2-x86_64+deps4cin.xzm move it to your modules folder and in your filemanager rightclick on it and choose "activate" (or simply doubleclick on it). to save some further confusion, i won't go into what's in it for now, other than it's made for cinnamon sp...

@neko , i'm wondering if the broadcom blacklist files should be removed, since they're really only needed for the proprietry broadcom wl driver, which isn't included anymore.. (although some of the kernel builtins for broadcom require proprietry firmware to work anyway) that's these files: usr/loca...

They don't look like what I see if I execute them as guest. lspci in (slackware) porteus must be run as root because lspci is in /sbin and sbin is not in guest's $PATH (although specifying the full path: /sbin/lspci might work for guest) in nemesis, everything's in /usr/bin, which is in both root a...
