"all the available versions of Porteus" .. including older versions? 32bit or 64bit? i think puppy usually loads to ram by default? maybe try using t...

Since I not use a standard 5.0rc1 but more a 5.0rc1 pre-rc2 is there a newer binutils module?
should just work, which it looks like it is, until it has a space problem..
(we should split this conversation out of this topic since it's not about appimages any more)

But these are beta versions, not even rc versions, so it could take a while till they start with rc. i think you'll find they go: nightly, then beta, then (stable)release, then minor releases, while simultaneously releasing more nightlys and betas, much like firefox does.. actually, earlier when i f...

How does the desktop zoom work?

i think you might be mistaken about openbox. but it's certainly part of xfce4:
menu>Settings>Settings Editor>xfwm4>zoom_desktop
or
~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfwm4.xml line 87: <property name="zoom_desktop" type="bool" value="true"/>
also, compositing has to be on for it to work..

looks like it relies on systemd to run it's daemon .. slackware based porteus doesn't have this .. it might be possible to find the command to start this daemon by looking at the speedify.service file .. maybe in /etc/systemd or /usr/lib/systemd ?? otherwise, nekos aporteus has systemd ... tho it wo...

Port 5.0rc1 XFCE - external ext3 weirdly mounted

Do some Linux variants now use /etc/mnttab while others still use the older well known /etc/mtab? "mtab" it not to be found even a single time in the online mount manual. i'd be inclined to think that the man.cx page is out of date, when compared to say https://jlk.fjfi.cvut.cz/arch/manpages/man/mo...
